Maskiot was founded in 1982 as a base for Nahal army groups. Some years later the Military Academy opened its doors. In 2008, after losing their homes in Gush Katif, a small group of pioneering families came to settle here.

These young families felt the challenge. Here on a small strip of arid, sparsely populated land in the northeastern tip of the Jordan Valley, 25 miles south of the Kinneret. Like its name, Maskiot, these people saw that beneath the surface were layers of golden opportunities.
